In Spring of 2007 I was at The Avalon in Hollywood for an event that KISS’ front man Gene Simmons was to be the keynote speaker. Well, during dinner I went to the restroom and was using the urinal when in walked Gene Simmons, who followed pissing protocol by leaving one vacant urinal in between the two of us and went about his business. I finished, washed my hands, and when Gene finished he came over to the sink.

“Hi Gene Simmons,” I said. He just kind of raised his eyebrows and acknowledged me with a nod of his head.
“Could I get your autograph?” I asked.
“Just let me wash the cock off my hands,” he said.
I went out of the restroom and waited in the lobby getting my pen and paper ready. When he came out I approached him at the same time as his female handler.
“Could you sign this for my wife Beth” I asked.
“That’s a term I’m unfamiliar with,” he said referring to the fact that he’s never been married.
I put the pen and paper in front of him and he said, “They told me not to sign before the show.”
“Since when do you follow the rules?!” I asked.
Gene Simmons had no response for that, all he did was shrug his shoulders and go back stage for his speech.

Life Lesson: People are people whether they’re rich and famous or the guy next door.
